The people on Nextdoor have some interesting comments, like "I'm tired of paying for someone's kid," while we all know some property owners paid for him when he was a kid. I understand that people need relief, but at the expense of the functioning of cities and counties? Sorry, I strayed off topic.
I wouldn't put anything past him, but he's trying to scare people into not voting. As much as Congress is willing to do his bidding, that would cross a line, I would hope. He likes to throw things against the wall and see if they stick. Carry on with your civic duty.
your input is so very correct----placing ICE at voting areas with their history of going after people for no apparent reason bothers me. When ICE was brought back out--was to stop violent offenders and send them back. I didn't like that--when in a short time the offender returned to the U.S. apparently multiple times. thanks for the comment
My Nextdoor is full of people “who are keyboard commandos who trash opinions that aren’t theirs” and say the same. I’m voting no, when it implies that cities & counties will have to beg Tallahassee to dole out funds and then only be given to red areas - like the federal government, losing local control, losing local services or getting billed separately for services (oh boy will they complain about that!) I don’t see the savings- plus why so high so fast? Why not an increase a little more gradual? I just don’t trust this and no one has explained the 5-10% on home transfers if I want to get out of my red county.
I'd encourage everyone who also has a Nextdoor to explain their stance on voting no on the property tax exemption bill. I will also be voting no and as exhausting as it is, it's on us to do our neighborly duty and inform those who merely believe it will be a tax saving. Everything will go up to cover the expenses that this tax covers, and no one likes that.

I look at the exemption plan--leaves out the school/education. In the past--schools were supported thru property tax and sales tax. not a lot of money overall. We need to fund education like other countries--education first then fund the rest of the government---put your money where your future is. thank you
I'm betting most of the people voting yes for the property tax adjustment are people who recently moved here because there is no income tax. They pushed up the price of homes when they moved to free floriduh during the pandemic. They paid considerably more than I did when I built my house 24 years ago. My property taxes are $2,500 a year do to Save Our Homes. These newcomers have a much higher Save Our Homes threshold and they should. Their arrival has caused a huge increase in the need for new infrastructure. They should be responsible for a greater share of paying the infrastructure.

And YES vote gives the state control over our property taxes, which they currently do not have.
