Killing beautiful creatures that have as much right to live as we do is not "harvesting". I can see making an exception for deer that are overpopulated in many areas, as long as they are eaten by the hunter. But not for Black Bears. Nature bats last.
It occurs to me that Democratic Socialism of the type that salvaged the American economy under FDR is not such a bad idea, even though it is always fragile and under attack from oligarchs, America's political owning class. For one, socialists keep certain domains under public ownership and control, such as parks, power utilities, education, and prisons. For another, it is an attitudinal shift from the mad grasp for personal profit that characterizes capitalism.
For the capitalist owning class, it as a welcome alternative to guillotines.
Excellent roundup. Thanks.
