By Bernie Sanders
There are many reasons as to why we should support Angie Nixon to become the next U.S. Senator from Florida. Here’s three:
1- Donald Trump is the most dangerous president in the history of the United States. He does not believe in the Constitution or the rule of law. He is a pathological liar, he is a narcissist, and he is running the most corrupt administration in American history. His policies are making the richest people in our country even richer while causing intense suffering for working families.
If you believe that Donald Trump and his policies are a danger to the United States and the working families of our country, then we cannot allow the U.S. Senate to remain under Republican control and continue as a rubber stamp for Trump and all that he stands for. Bottom line: we need a Democratic Senate to hold Trump and his policies accountable. In a close election, Florida could be the state that determines whether or not that happens.
2- In my view, Angie is absolutely right on the most important issues facing our country.
- Angie understands that our current healthcare system is broken, dysfunctional and wildly expensive. She believes that healthcare is a human right and will join me in fighting for Medicare for All.
- She knows that too many workers in Florida and around the country are trying to survive on starvation wages. She will work to raise the minimum wage to a living wage and make it easier for workers to join unions.
- At a time of massive income and wealth inequality, she will fight to make sure that the billionaires in our country pay their fair share of taxes so that we can protect the needs of low income and working families.
- Angie will demand that AI works to improve life for all of humanity, not just make Big Tech oligarchs even richer. She will fight for strong guardrails to protect our kids and all of us.
- She will work in the Senate to put an end to illegal and unconstitutional “endless wars,” and stop funding the extremist and racist Netanyahu government in Israel.
3- Angie will fight to end a corrupt campaign finance system which undermines American democracy and allows the very rich and their super PACs to buy and sell politicians. No. Elon Musk, the richest man on earth, should not be allowed to spend $290 million to help elect Trump president in 2024, and $366 million in this mid-term election to try and maintain Republican control of Congress. Angie, like me, has the “radical” idea that democracy means one person, one vote - not the very rich controlling our political process.
Friends - in her primary campaign Angie Nixon was outspent almost 16-1 and she still prevailed in one of the great upsets in modern political campaign history. The people in Florida, and Americans throughout this country, are tired of status quo politics. They want change, REAL change - and that’s what Angie Nixon is all about.
Angie Nixon pulled off a major upset in the primary and, with your support, she’s going to do it again in the general election.
Needless to say, I intend to do all that I can to help. I will be in Florida this weekend for rallies with Angie in Tallahassee, Melbourne, Tampa and Gainesville.

Friends: this is the most important mid-term election in modern American history. Please do everything you can to see that Angie Nixon becomes Florida’s next U.S. Senator.
Bernie Sanders is an American politician and the longest-serving independent in U.S. congressional history, currently representing Vermont in the U.S. Senate. Born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1941, he previously served as mayor of Burlington, Vermont, and as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives. A self-described democratic socialist, he ran progressive campaigns for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2016 and 2020.
