So, how crazy does a president have to be before Congress does its duty and removes him from office? Where is that red line politicians keep talking about?
California Gov. Gavin Newsom thinks Trump has crossed it with his suggestion that Iran should “take out” Los Angeles and San Diego.
“Let’s be clear,” Newsom said. “The president is advocating for an attack on 10+ million U.S. residents in two of America’s largest cities. This is not normal … He is deranged and dangerous.”
Trump’s crazed remarks came at a political rally in Nebraska this week. He’s barnstorming the country, urging Republicans to forget about how unaffordable and unsafe he’s made the country to get out the vote in the midterms. He needs Republicans to keep control of Congress to avoid an avalanche of investigations into his blatant corruption and self-dealing.
Trump told the crowd that crippling increases in the cost of gasoline and diesel fuel are a “small price to pay for keeping the world safe—keeping our country safe.”
Never mind that the war is a consequence of his own doing, undeclared and unnecessary.
Speaking of Iran, he continued: “They can take out a city. Let them take out Los Angeles. Let them take out San Diego.”
I supposed in Trump’s delusional mind those would be small prices to pay, too.
And we should note that he DID NOT suggest bombing Palm Beach County, where rumor has it he owns property.
Speaking of prices, Trump finally relented on using taxpayer dollars for his controversial “Love Me” television ads that began airing during football games last week. He now says he will pay for the ads from his MAGA Inc. political war chest.
Of course, he also said Mexico will pay for the wall, so let’s reserve judgment until we see the check.
Republicans and Democrats alike had been screaming bloody murder over this spending $10 million in tax dollars for his shameless self-promotion.
Speaking of checks, I wrote yesterday about the Affordable Care Act rebates that Trump has been mailing out to voters along with an undisguised campaign letter—also at taxpayers’ expense.
Several readers wrote that they have found good ways to spend the money.
“I sent my $90 to the Angie Nixon campaign. I thank him for being able to contribute more than $10 of my SSA payments to someone who is not a tRump sycophant!” wrote Bobbie DeVoll.
“Any $ I receive from Trump will go to ActBlue,” wrote Da.
Wrote John Russin:
“Here is a way that Trump can be further humiliated: Every outraged Democrat (or anyone else) who receives a refund for healthcare overcharges should promptly return the check or donate it to the Resistance (Democratic Party). Could you imagine the message that would send? People would be putting their money where their mouths are by using Trump “bribes” to fund his opposition.”
That was a sentiment shared by Doug Phillips, to wit:
“Coincidentally, after reading your article about Trump’s attempt to bribe voters, I opened up my banking app to see if our Social Security checks have posted, and lo and behold, there were two postings for $90 from the Treasury Department! My wife and I have been ruminating over whether or not we can afford to top off our donations to our favorite Democratic candidates. To be honest, we’re pretty sick of the constant barrage of emails and texts begging for more money, but we understand the importance of these elections. So thank you, President Trump, for solving our dilemma. We’ll be sending that $180 off to the Jolly and Nixon campaigns today!”
And I especially liked this letter from Steven Dee:
“When I went to elementary school, I was told our government had checks and balances. Now we get checks and have no balances?”

Speaking of letters:
Now that we’ve entered October, it’s time for our Quarterly Comment Contest.
Every three months, we honor our letter writers. And it’s a real challenge picking the “best” out of the cornucopia of clever correspondence that crowds the comments section.
(I just love playing with alliteration).
So, as we did last quarter, I will post a handful of letters that I thought were especially good, and ask for your feedback.
But first, if you have written something you believe worthy of consideration, or if you recall a letter you like and want to nominate it, send me an email with your suggestion at:
I’ll share the finalists with you in an upcoming newsletter and let you weigh in on which comment deserves top honors. The winner gets a free Miss Mingo coffee mug and T-shirt, and a priceless certificate!

Thanks for your support

And trump, maga, delusional, demented, Nebraskans cheered as corporate media sanewashed the madman's bombing suggestions of LA and San Diego. Can you imagine Biden saying let them bomb NE, SD, ND, MT, WY, and ID,, which totals less than eight million. Would the corporate media snewash that? No, they wouldn't say is was Bidenspeak, they would say Biden was mentally failing, decrepit, and dangerous. I did not receive a trump bribe check, but his bribe act did encourage me to give a little more to Angie Nixon.
