The ties between Russian oligarchs and the Trump family are there for anyone to see. Why are we being so blind?

The problem with this article is its attempt to bind Russian President Putin to US President Trump by "Umar Kremlev, a Russian oligarch close to President Vladimir Putin." This screed is redolent of Russiagate, which to those who pay attention has long been debunked as a CIA/DNC scam.

It is true that there are oligarchs in Russia. You might ask, "How did they get there?" The answer is that the Americans made them in the 'shock therapy' phase after the collapse of the USSR. American and European money men (such as Bill Browder) descended on Russia with the intent of grabbing everything that was not nailed down. They created a scheme whereby state assets were 'purchased' by the men (and perhaps women) who became the infamous Russian oligarchs. This process almost destroyed Russia as a society and a state.

Putin came to power because the money men thought he would bring a more sober Boris Yeltsin, equally pliant to let them steal. It turned out he was a Russian nationalist of the best kind. He stopped the steal and corralled the oligarchs. He let them keep their loot as under two conditions: keep your money in Russia; do not meddle in politics. Those who did not agree either fled or were imprisoned.

It is true that oligarchs still exist, but they are just "business people". Some are close to Putin, most are Putin's enemies. In effect, they are no different and less numerous than their American oligarch counterparts.
