Close it now, release those jailed illegally, clean up the mess - return the Everglades to prior condition, charge construction and clean up to personal accounts belonging to DeSantis.
DeSantis isn't even working for Trump yet, and he (the taxpayer) has been screwed over, Trump style. I hope they close this inhumane eyesore asap, and if Florida isn't reimbursed, then DeSantis should be responsible for the full cost.
Bad idea from the start. It’s unsafe to put human beings in cages in the middle of swamps with the threat of hurricanes. We need due process for these people and respectful detention if it’s warranted.
Hi, this is the only site where I feel comfortable sharing my opinions. Thank you to all who have inspired me to be more vocal. Now to today’s topic. The Everglades detention center, has been in my view an illegal imprisonment of human beings who have been taken and incarcerated without due process, legal arrests and without having any representation. They have been condemned by government officials without any factual evidence or details. I hope and pray that the day will come when these officials will be held accountable for their illegal actions by the citizens of the United States. It is up all of us to demand that our constitutional rights be upheld by those in power.
In addition to the well-known horrors of the operation itself, the project appears to have been a corrupt collusion between the Feds, Florida Republican politicians, and unscrupulous corporations to quickly smash and grab money from taxpayers to make the aforementioned richer. Whose going to investigate all of the no-bid contracts and shed light on the dirty deals behind the scenes?
In a make-believe world Trump ideas sound acceptable. In reality, Trump has little concern for the details and responsibilities that accompany ambitious sounding ideas. Could it be that Trump's many bankruptcy filings in the real world were also caused by poor planning?

We have a private industrial prison complex that profits from the amount of inmates they can handle. Business as usual.
