Florida Democrat U.S. Rep. Maxwell Frost punched in face by racist Trump supporter
Trump has unleashed craziness all over our country, not just in Minnesota. Congress must act.
Florida’s U.S. Rep. Maxwell Frost, the youngest member of Congress, was punched in the face by a man screaming that President Donald Trump was going to deport him.
Frost, a Democrat and at age 29 the first Generation Z member of Congress, wouldn’t have far to go were he deported.
He’s a native of Orlando.
Here’s what Frost posted on Twitter (currently known as X):
Frost was at a private party when the incident occurred.
The Associated Press reports that Christian Joel Young, 28, was arrested for aggravated burglary, assaulting an elected official and assault, and taken to Summit County Jail, according to court records.
Young appeared to have crashed the party by jumping a fence and had a Sundance Film Festival pass that was not issued in his name, according to the police affidavit.
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries wrote on Twitter that he was horrified by the attack and that “the perpetrator must be aggressively prosecuted. Hate and political violence has no place in our country.”
He’s right, of course.
But given this weekend’s horrific events in Minnesota, he’s hardly the only MAGA idiot who needs to be behind bars.
The killer of Renee Good is still walking free. As are the executioners of Alex Pretti, an ICU nurse serving veterans at a Minneapolis V.A. hospital who was shot 10 times by immigration agents while lying on a frigid city street.
Here’s a message for Minority Leader Jeffries and everyone else with a conscience in Congress:
The American people expect action from you. You are supposed to be a coequal branch of government, and it is your duty to rein in this siege of terror and hatred that Donald Trump and his minions have unleashed.
At a minimum, we expect to see a discharge petition impeaching Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.
At a minimum.
Back in Utah, County Judge Richard Mrazik ordered Young held without bail, on the grounds that he would constitute, “a substantial danger to any other individual or to the community, or is likely to flee the jurisdiction of the court if released on bail.”
And right now, I.C.E. and other immigration thugs roaming the country have proven they are the ultimate “substantial danger” to all our communities.
I.C.E. needs to be defunded.
That opportunity will come before the Senate this week.
If blocking that budget bill means shutting down the government, so be it.
And a message to the seven Democrats in the House of Representatives that voted “yes” when the bill was in their chamber:
You should pray the Senate kicks that bill back to you so you can change your vote, or you will regret that irresponsible decision the rest of your political lives.
It should be noted: No Democratic Florida member of Congress voted to approve the bill funding ICE, including Frost. So, we have that to be thankful for.
Of course, the same cannot be said for Florida’s Republican delegation.
Do you think it’s too much to hope for that they may come to their senses and put the wellbeing of the country over loyalty to Trump?

Blocking ICE funding, even if it causes a government shut down, is the right action to take.
And, at least, should show that Democrats in Congress can do more than sit on their hands as Trump, and the Republican Party, try to burn the country down.
The attack on Rep. Frost is unacceptable, as are the attacks and murders going on in MN and all over. So why is Congress supporting the unlawful thuggery being practiced by ICE? We are watching and we will continue to stand up and speak up.
