These people are FUCKING NUTS! GUNS DO NOT PROTECT! We already have open carry in SUPERMARKETS! What the fuck do you need a gun there for? Don’t like the prices?

THE SOLUTION IS NOT MORE GUNS IN MORE PLACES!

When did more of a bad thing ever help?

Alan Sharp's avatar

Yes, just what we need more guns. Why not just arrange it so that whenever they join a school, as part as the package they get a gun, why not just sell them at Walmart

I wrote this as a satire piece, where I argued that everyone should have free guns, regardless of age/affordability, because it's an American right. It was supposed to stay satire. 😭

Apparently, our state legislators must have read it.

IT WAS SUPPOSED TO STAY SATIRE 😭😭😭

If you consider all the dumb things our state legislators have done this year, this is certainly in the realm of possibility.

Congress would pass it in a flash! 🙄🤯😡

More guns is a completely ridiculous response to a mass shooting event!!

It’s like encouraging all countries to have nuclear weapons. If EVERYONE had them, we’ll be so much safer?!?

This the STUPIDEST thing I have ever heard!!!More guns in the hands of humans whose brains are not fully functional, I am a former PE/Classroom teacher and this is not an idea that can be used in any level of education. Here is an idea: GIVE THE TEACHERS MORE PAY!!

The article says “senseless gun violence”. When is there sensible gun violence?

It stinks! Guns do not make us safer. Guns are the opposite of a solution. Funding for schools, mental health, safe neighborhoods are solutions. Figuring out why former military become violent would be a solution. More guns is just the narrative pushed by the NRA.

At Uvalde, 100s of armed law enforcement stayed outside while kids were being killed inside. In Dayton OH, cops took the shooter down 38 seconds after he started shooting, and still 8 people died. So how much good does more armament make? We have to keep guns out of schools in the first place, or better, out of everyone's hands. "Law abiding gun owners"? Just about every gun owner is law abiding, UNTIL THEY'RE NOT, AND THEN IT'S TOO LATE.

So now when someone shows up on campus with a gun they won’t know if he’s legally carrying or has intent to do harm!! Gun violence is out of control in this country. Notice they don’t allow guns in the legislature, courts or during DeSantis events!!! Why is that???

This is what happens when legislators are more influenced by John Wayne movies than they are reason. When we imagine a shooting scenario many of us, especially those of us with a functional Y Chromosome, see ourselves as Wyatt Earp, cool headed, focused, infallibly targeting the bad guys. No case study of actual shooting situations suggests this is true. Shootings are chaos and confusion, and human beings act accordingly. More guns means more chaos. I wrote about this when they were talking about it for primary and secondary schools here in the Free State. https://madsociologistblog.com/2018/02/17/im-a-teacher-and-the-last-thing-i-need-is-a-gun-dammit/

I do not get it. With all these guns around, how could there be so many gun deaths? Doesn’t a proliferation of guns protect us? Is it possible that thus logic does not hold up very well?

When did more guns ever help? In Australia the guy wrestled the gun from the gunman and didn't shoot because he was afraid police would shoot him. Very quick and smart thinking. So if you had a gun to shoot a bad guy think carefully the police won't know who to shoot so they'll just shoot everyone.

In a memorable episode of "All in the Family," Archie Bunker's plan to stop aircraft hijackings was to "arm all the passengers." The live studio audience and those of us at home all laughed. Let's not live by a comedy script.

Please don't repeat that, it could happen.

What do you think I would think? Perhaps they confronted very traumatic adolescences... It would explain such a stupid idea! Yet, let me comment further. It would be a little noisy but entertaining to allow the Florida legislators (both cameras) to bring unconcealed weapons without restrictions (for instance, to hunt mosquitoes) and use them instead of insulting each other. It would perhaps favor a more decent and peaceful environment for the State legislatures. Currently, it seems they continue to honor the unwritten agreement not to carry weapons into the respective camera floors, which is one of the few positive and common-sense ideas that has ever occurred to them!
