I think what DeSantis meant to say is that the Republicans are a terrorist group and not to be trusted. Racism comes in so many different faces. The Republicans are the main ones.
Why do Republicans delight in fixing non-existent problems with racist solutions? I laugh robustly when DeSantis talks about "Free Florida"; it's anything but free.
If you don't like what is going on, then do something about it. Vote, run for local or state office, sign up voters, etc. It's up to those who can see through the Republican nonsense to try to replace it with people who can see all sides of an issue.
Muslims are not enemies or terrorists any more than Floridians are! The real terrorists are politicians like DeSantis who govern by support rather than good, appealing to those who elected them rather than rational Americans!
DeSantis has always been a hateful dictator wannabe. Hopefully his reign of bullshit will soon be over. I can only hope Florida voters wake up and vote for the freedoms afforded by our Constitution. Calmer, more thoughtful minds must prevail or we will have the chaos that Trump and his ilk desire. That way the robber barons can continue raiding the wealth. It’s a nice game of distract, deflect and sneak away with as much ill gotten gains as possible.
I wonder what act of terror CAIR has committed to qualify for its designation as not only a terrorist group but a foreign terrorist group. Is it guilty for speaking up on behalf of civil rights for Muslims? Or for participating in the campaign to secure the release of a Palm Bay Palestinian American boy from an Israeli prison where he was starved and denied medical care? Maybe it was for suing Governor Abbott, DeSantis' apparent idol, for labeling CAIR a terrorist organization. I'm afraid that our state leaders are too provincial to understand that their Judeo-Christian self righteousness is pure bias against organizations that not only stand up for compassion and diversity, but do so while invoking ethics and law. An American Jew myself, I regard CAIR with respect and appreciation.
I came with the Jewish Progressive Coalition to assist CAIR in this endeavor. They are some of the kindest people. All very well spoken and proud. This attempt to frighten us off with a tweet while we were en route to the capitol was wild, but did not deter us. I'll be releasing a first hand experience of the event if anyone is interested, I should be finished with it today.
Islamophobia might date back to the Crusades when the cry was raised to 'save' the Holy Land from Islam. Most scholars observe that the real reason was to open the trade routes which the Ottoman Turks had occupied, demanding passage payment for goods. Still, the Holy Land of the time was very ecumenical with Christians, Muslims, and Jews co-exisiting in relative comity, and when the Crusaders got there, they killed them all indiscriminately while looting Jerusalem.
In other words, Islamophobia is hypocritical and baselessly intolerant.
But nowadays, we have the small Zionist State of Israel with dreams of expansive grandeur and which from its beginning has been killing Palestinians to realize that dream. Anyone who questions the Zionist Project is deemed an antisemite at best and a terrorist at worst.
But then again, our current crop of leaders do not "have the sense they were born with," and are cruel in their stupidity.
If you only read this part of the text, that would ban TheRump from Florida:
"The legislation would provide a process by which the state’s chief of domestic security may designate an organization as a foreign terrorist organization or domestic terrorist organization if that officer finds that it engages in activities dangerous to human life, intended to intimidate or coerce a civilian population, influence the policy of a government by intimidation, or affect the conduct of government by mass destruction."
I'm a white liberal woman voter and my class has already been determined to be an enemy, terrorist org.Heard this today. All this makes me sick and I never vote for any pedofile protecting Republicans ever.
“The fact that we have a massive amount of security today is unreal to me,” said Jacksonville Democratic Rep. Angie Nixon, who has not attended a synagogue in Florida lately.
I wasn't aware that Rep. Nixon is Jewish. Even if she is, she is not required to attend; no one is. I get your point, but synagogues are not the only places where haters have caused problems.
Just for the record, if someone disagrees with you, it doesn't mean they are being hateful. If anything, you comment's attempt to divert the attention from growing Islamophobia to synagogues is covertly hateful, in light of the 10s of thousands of innocent people being murdered due to Islamophobic nations. Synagogues in the States get extra security, but children in Gaza don't even have the right to safety and food. This double standard is what is hateful. Cope.
Either we have equality under the law for everyone in America or we have no equality. Either we have religious freedom and tolerance for all religions or we have no religious freedom. Either we have separation of church and state for all religions or we have none. If we do not have all of the above, then we do not have the country our Founding Fathers built and so many who went before us have fought to defend. The only question on the table now: do we still have the democratically elected republic known as the United States of America, or don't we?

Talk about deplorable!

Call it what it is: bigotry.

Looks like the KKK has infiltrated powerful positions in Florida

There. I fixed it.

Thank you, Janet, for coming closest to understanding the subtlety of my comment. The hateful responses to my benign comment are unwarranted.

So? What does that have to do with it? Now we must all convert to Judaism and pay homage to your religion? Is it still OK to be secular??
Whoa. Stand down. My subtle comment refers to the surprising need for armed security where it was previously never needed.

It's show time for politicians, that's what this is all about.
