Clearly the 29 percent Unaffiliated is the highest percentage. Those students should not be forced to follow or learn any of the other religions. School is about learning a career and how to earn money. Students go to private churches to learn a Religion.
Scary isn’t it? I’m like this. God is within us all and we have control. If religion makes you a better person so be it but what I see is a lot of judgmental asses.
Interesting......Florida wants to promote God and Christian teachings in the schools but will allow ICE into the schools.....plus where is God in the immigrant detention center? Such hypocrisy!!
My family moved to Florida in 1970, long before it was established as the “free state”. Although I sat through the silly high school class of Americanism vs. Communism, I never thought I’d live to witness the Inquisition.
These folks continue to write clauses out of the Constitution - the "well-regulated militia" clause in the Second Amendment, the birthright citizenship language of the Fourteenth Amendment, and here, continuing the attack on the anti-establishment clause in the First Amendment. And these "originalists" and "textualists" who claim to revere the words of the Constitution and demand their immutability lead this charge. Like in Orwell's Animal Farm, some words are more equal than others.
We have serious problems, and not just in Florida. You have people who have no clue about the Constitution voting for lawmakers that also have no clue about the Constitution. Unless Trump has changed it, the Founding Fathers intended separation of church and state.
Parents have the right to send their children to a religious school more aligned to their religion. Schools receiving public funding should not have religion in school. And, you know, they mean the Christian religion. What about Jewish or Muslim children attending public school? These idiots in Tallahassee are great at making bills to solve nonexistent problems.
This was well-debated at the Constitutional Convention, and today's social studies flunkies would have us do it all over again. In an inclusive government -- for example, one with a legislative house where Rhode Island is equal to Texas -- the question is, "Whose God? Whose religious practice?" should the government endorse? What the Founding Fathers (Abigail, Martha, and even Sally were not invited) developed was an inclusive model which, as President Washington wrote, "is worthy of imitation."
Personally, I think the only valid prayer is in Hebrew. But I'm very happy to not inflict that requirement on anyone else.
What you are describing is UnAmerican. Our founders went to great lengths to keep religion OUT of government. After all, they were fleeing the stifling lack of freedom under a state religion in the UK. The main body of the Constitution does not mention God at all. One Amendment does but it is a negative...that there shall be no religious test for public office. Read The Founding Myth by Andrew Seidel.
Probably because their religious dogma rewrites our history and tells them falsehoods, which they believe without thinking for themselves. Thanks, Donna
PUBLIC schools are for the public. If you want your child to receive a religious education, there are many schools to meet your special needs. Otherwise, religion belongs at home, where one can exert their freedom of religion in their own special way.
I would like to live in a state that is respected by potential home buyers from all over the country. That would be a state that creates solid educational goals, not religious dogma forced on children, so the next generation will be accepted to high-quality universities. Many educators do not want to be subjected to the religious folks' regulations and prejudice against evidence-based scholarship.
Shall we bring reading, writing, and arithmetic into church on Wed night and Sunday too..fair is fair. What happened to separation of church and state?? WHAT HAPPENED TO IT!!! Religion is personal and you have plenty of personal time to worship however you please however when you start this it’s their God or the highway. Just can’t agree!
So, a politician admits that schools are just another form of prison! And we can apply Christian indoctrination to combat recidivism (which would mean that kids would come to school the next day). All in the name of the State Region—Hitler would smile.
I frankly don't see any problem with religious education, but the kind of religion these people offer doesn't 'have a prayer' to do any good except to inculcate obedience.
Once I took a university course in religion. My professor had been a Jesuit priest but had left the order to get married. His assessment of most of American Christianity was that it is a "folk religion" not far removed from secular values and lacking in spiritual substance. Instead, as "Rev. Susan Gage, an Episcopal priest, says, Christian folk religion is intolerant, cruel, and hateful, with adherents supporting all kinds of atrocities at home (property rights, pollution, exploitation) and abroad (Gaza, Venezuela, and the Ukraine). No one needs this kind of Christianity.
These hypocritical Republican so-called Christians in the Florida State Legislator just wasted time and our taxpayer money making up bills that try to undermine the United States Constitution
If you want to practice your religion, do it at home, in your place of worship, for send your kids to private religious school.. Don't force upon any public school students that fake Christianity B. S, they're all hypocrites. They go to church for 1 hour on Sunday and then spend the other 167 hours of the week being racist, bigoted, white supremacy, sin committing hippocrites. How do we know this because it's plain as day to see? These Trump, supporting Republican Christian hypocrites, worship a man like he's a God. A living black-hearted orb that has broken every single commandment that they claim we should live by including killing (murder) after what happened in Minneapolis, in the Caribbean, in Venezuela and other places throughout the world since this second term began. Repukelicans are trying to force this Christianity Crap of man-made up fake religious bs throughout this whole country. With the help of the treasonous heritage foundation's project, 2025 and under the direction of this evil entity occupying the White House who is a lying, cheating, adulterous, con man, fraudster,
sexual predator, pedophile, and murderer. If that isn't the definition of hypocrisy, then someone needs to rewrite the dictionary.
As you can see, I was just being politically correct.Until I really started to think about it.And then called them the repukelicans. Yes, the Maga minions and their pedophile leader have destroyed the party that my family has been a member of since its Inception in 1854, that's why I now register as NPA. THAT'S TRUMP AND THE TREASONOUS HERITAGE FOUNDATION'S GOAL. MAGA, MAKE AMERICANS GULLIBLE ASSHOLES.
I was once Republican but as life moved on I became more liberal. I only know Dems and Republicans could usually come to some sort of common ground. Not perfect of course but this Sh&@ is sad and crazy. These people have been living among us?? They need some debriefing. I get what you’re saying though. At least, in the past, it wouldn’t come to blows at family gatherings like it does now. Now it’s if you’re MAGA our relationship is OVER. Sad but true. I cannot debate crazy and uneducated. The uneducated comes from just believing lies with no research and then making excuses for the bad behavior. No democrat WOULD ever allow a felon to run for President. That tells you all about MAGA MUTANTS.
Yes, Donna it is so true. You have the Republicans use that to their advantage. All the so-called Christians who follow them Republicans are just the same. And God knows Dump Trump couldn’t even spell God let alone praise him. After all the devil comes in many disguises.
Ethics, honesty, kindness, fairness and compassion can be taught without religious dogma. It is my opinion that those things should be part of public education.
Clearly the 29 percent Unaffiliated is the highest percentage. Those students should not be forced to follow or learn any of the other religions. School is about learning a career and how to earn money. Students go to private churches to learn a Religion.
School should also, or even primarily, be about learning how to think critically. Doing so would certainly run afoul of religious dogma.
And this is the same republican government that is racist yet they swear by God.
And the bible is OK? Apparently many haven’t REALLY read it..makes me laugh.

Trump doesn’t even know what DOI is he certainly doesn’t know the Constitution.

Why do so many misunderstand that? Well said!

Believe me, Hitler IS smiling at Trump and his Nazi regime.
