Your article today has enforced my belief that our State and Federal laws are being abandoned by Judges and Politicians in favor of self interest and pandering to a select few of delusional officials who are in office. This quote by Circuit Judge Joshua M. Hawkes, that he had to weigh “the lesser of two evils.” is an obvious personal opinion and not based on any legal precedent. It is hard to believe that our country’s constitutional rights are being so blatantly ignored. We must vote and show that we are morally and intellectually smarter than those who represent us.

If enough people who resent these purely partisan acts vote, this could totally backfire. Florida still has citizens who respect the democratic process—even many registered Republicans.

Registered Republicans 5,533,497. Registered Democrats 4,028,123. No party affiliation 3,318,339. These are 2026 figures on the Florida Division of Elections website. Does DeSantis's gerrymandered map reflect this? Hell no!!!!!

In 2010, the 'Fair Districts' Amendment was added to the Florida Constitution to prevent such gerrymandering from restricting access to the ballot. Our politically biased SCOTUS now seems to think such gerrymandering to provide access to the ballot is equally reprehensible. There is one simple answer to this: Never, ever, vote for any Republican for any office whatsoever. They are never, ever, on the side of the people.

My father was not one to offer much advice. But when I came to voting age years ago he told me “Son never vote for a Republican. They never give the working man a break.” In fifty tears since I have rarely found his words to be in error.
