Thanks for providing important factual information about our crazy state. And especially for spicing it up with humor!

I'm more concerned about the cost of homeowner's insurance and the hurricane surge problem that is now part of my neighborhood. At least my property taxes fund necessities in my county, whereas, my insurance premiums go where ?????

Anyone who chooses to believe any vomit that spews from a Republican's mouth is choosing ignorance, choosing to support that filth, like maggots that feed on rotting flesh of lies and deceit. It's that simple.

A more incidious reason for the "no property taxes" push by Gov. DeS is that property taxes are the funding vehicle for cities, towns and county governments (some of which are too "woke" for his taste). If those go away, our local governments will no longer have any real say in our local priorities. The State administration will then TELL US how much $$ we will get and what we can spend it on. Toe the line, or be cut off!! Want to protect your shoreline, wetlands and water quality? Whoops! No money for you! Think the Arts are worthy investments? Ha,ha,ha,ha. Want to fine tune your Comprehensive Plan to balance developers and existing neighborhood needs? Are you kidding?

Local government is where we have the most power. If you don't like current zoning, traffic, or how your money is being spent, you can VOTE your opinion and change your local Commissioners. Do you really think you'll change the State administration in our super majority, single party State? DO NOT GIVE AWAY YOUR POWER!

If you have owned your home for 10 years or more your propery taxes are probably some of the lowest in the country. Our homestead exemption and Save Our Homes guarantee that.

If you bought during covid to come to free floriduh then you bought at the peak but you still have homestead exemption. That's the breaks . Our state government should be protecting the long time residents not the newcomers. I don't really want then anyway more people just lower the quality of life.

I used to live on longboat key where property taxes are *really* high. If they are eliminated, who's going to pay for beach renourishment? I live in Ruskin now, and rent. Quite happily.
