Solar use is growing all over the world. In Germany panels are put at nearly every section of the autobahn on otherwise unusable land. Farmers are grazing animals under the panels, where the grass grows and shade is provided. We need people like a jolly who look at all options including solar. My concern with nuclear in Florida is what happens if it ever leaked into water systems.
I don’t have solar anything because of my age. It’s not economically feasible. For the same reason I don’t have an electric car. I’d like to have both, but it’s not going to work out economically for me. However the whole world is going to go solar at some point and I would imagine that’s going to be sooner than anyone would imagine. Right now non-solar is nothing but a Trumpublican talking point. I live in Citrus County, the heart of Trumplandia. All my life, everyone here has hated people from New York and they’ve always hated black people. Now here we are cozying up to a con man from Queens and a black guy who’s licking the ass of a con man from Queens. I will vote against everything Republican. But unfortunately, where I live it won’t do any good.
Don’t sell your vote short please, Jeffrey. All of our votes for Jolly and the rest of the Democrats on the ticket will add up. You might be surprised at how many of your Trumper neighbors have had enough of this BS from him and the Republican Party.
A black man who is a devoted follower of Donald Trump must be either stupid or rich. What Donalds is reported as saying about electric power is certainly stupid.
Florida power and light doesn't think it's a fad, they have billions of dollars invested in solar currently, providing power to 1.5 million homes. Private homes, businesses and hotels have been using solar power for years. The only thing that's a fad is Donalds bullshit. Donald trump started this lie, and of course Donalds is gonna back it up and suck up to Trump. David Jolly is right. Donalds is wrong and the wrong choice for governor.
First, Data Center Donalds says that solar takes away productive land, and then he says he should look into small nuclear reactors. Doesn't that also take away productive land? We are called the Sunshine State, so solar does make sense. FPL has been leading the way on solar for at least a decade, if not more. Nuclear does not make sense in a state surrounded by water on 3 sides that gets hurricanes. At least, we are hearing some policy thoughts from both sides.
And, you know, there are ways to embed solar power collectors in roads and side walks.
My home system powers my house and my electric car. And it sends excess to the grid. When FPL has a disruption in the grid, I never know about it, because I have back-up batteries.
FPL profits off my array - I get credited with 25% of what others pay for the energy that my system sends to FPL’s grid.
And yet, I am REQUIRED (by law) to pay to be connected, and what I pay has gone from $120 a year to $429 a year. What am I getting for that fee? Insurance that I’ll have power when my system breaks??? I’d much rather be uninsured, my system has yet to break. And it certainly doesn’t stop as often as FPL’s does.
Do you think FPL’s poor investors send me a receipt stating that I’d made a charitable contribution? I could use that write-off, because I itemize my income taxes. Oh, that’s right!, FPL is not a charity.
Yes, Republican candidate for Florida Governor, Byron Donalds, appears to be a classic MAGA Moron. Party switcher David Jolly, shows signs of having his head screwed on straight. Enough said!
Politics aside, relying on any one technology to power our electrical grid is exactly what the old saw about "putting all your eggs in one basket" warns against. Real conservatives, wise persons, and anyone else with an ounce of sense know nothing is perfect, so all healthy policies rely on a mix of sources. If you want a robust, intelligent, and healthy dog, get a mutt. If your family needs more than one car, get different ones so you'll always have one fit for a trip's purpose. And so forth!
Finally, if you want robust, all-the-time, all-weather power grid, install as wide a range of sources as possible. Full Stop!
