I am anticipating a perverse pleasure in seeing Florida Republicans dangling from the limb they crawled out on as they govern with their own version of California's Proposition 13. Unfortunately, we all have to live with the consequences of their stupidity.
This new amendment terrifies me as well. I cannot fathom how many services we will sacrifice in order to make ends meet. Or will we simply pay to play for services? What about those who can’t? This article makes me realize how much we may need to help rural counties (which I assume we did before through property tax revenue). Should we start a household fund, using our “tax savings” to cover new expenses?
What a POS DeSantis is. Now that it passed, he wants to hogtie cities and counties? I'm not sure when the new state legislators start, but he wants this done while the Republicans have a supermajority. People voted on the amendment as it was presented to them on the ballot, and now he wants to change it; that is wrong on every level. I hope he doesn't waste anymore tax $$$ on this BS amendment.
Probably the only thing that DeSantis did to benefit older residents on fixed incomes. Now the task will be to restrain the politicians from seeking different ways to line their pockets with taxpayer funded self enriching projects. Yes, we do need to fund the essential services of local govt. but every “wish” does not need to be granted by the genie of the magic tax lantern.
Leaving the decisions up to a “central government” smells like communism to me. Especially if it is GOP dominated. What will blue cities do when revenues are cut and libraries, law enforcement and fire protection has to cut back? Shall we let it all crumble so we can bow down to the powers in Tallahassee? Let cities do as they please and let DeSantis/Moody/Uthmeier be a bad memory of corruption.
Hillsbourgh county us so crooked. They have raised my assessed value 3 years in a row even the market value went down. I have a couple of extra exceptions being a widow and low income senior. My neighbors who just moved here from out state have all had decreased assessments. I believe they are targeting those with lower taxes to who knows what. I spoke to other people in my neighbor with same exemptions as me and they too have had raised assessments. We all moved into this new neighborhood at the same time. How can they get away with this
The Save Our Homes (SOH) amendment is a provision in the Florida Constitution that limits annual increases in the assessed value of a homestead-exempt property.
(I need to correct my mistake that recount trigger is actually 0.5%., election results were Diiaz-Balert 49.9% and Lockliin 49.1%, !!!!!!!!!!!)
Meanwhile,
US House District 26 still uncalled, as of Nov. 5, 7:30 a.m.
Voters here need to request manual recount, unsure how that happens.
Such is life living in a Blue county:
"There is a 3,000 number vote that was reported (Tuesday night) at around 11:16 p.m. that were removed, and we don't have an explanation as to what that was," Locklin said. "And we were also told there's 1,800 outstanding votes in Broward County and that all the precincts weren't 100 percent reported."

Does trust of Amendment 3 outcomes exist?!!??! Sounds like a lot of maybe last minute changes or perhaps then this could happen if then ......wha?!??????

Do you have SOH setup on your property?
