No Kings Day rallies underway; record crowds expected as the world protests Donald Trump
News and commentary from Florida in support of democracy
Millions of Americans—as well as people from around the world—are showing up for No Kings Day rallies today.
More than 3,000 such events were planned for today, all in support of democracy and in opposition to President Donald Trump’s authoritarian and unConstitutional instincts and actions.
Reports coming in as this was written indicate that attendance at these events is much higher than even the earlier record-setting No Kings Day rallies that have taken place. And they are still underway, here and abroad.
As the Daily Beast reported:
Protesters around the world poured out onto the streets on Saturday to participate in “No Kings” rallies as Americans geared up for the third installment of the popular movement against Trump, which is expected to draw millions of people.
In Italy, France, Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, and Australia, protesters marched the streets carrying signs blasting the 79-year-old American president and his war with Iran.
“I would expect March 28 to be the biggest protest in American history,” said Ezra Levin, co-founder of Indivisible, one of the No Kings Day organizers.
Interestingly, a majority of people who registered to attend the rallies online are outside major metropolitan areas. That includes here in Florida, where organizers say more than 100 rallies are taking place, sometimes more than one in the same town.
Donald Trump is here in the Gunshine State this weekend, so it’s likely that to-and-from the golf course he’ll get an eyeful himself. If he’s awake. He’s the oldest president to ever be sworn in, so there’s a reason he’s acquired the moniker Drowsy Don.
Here are a few more images—in addition to the video I shot at the top of this column—of Floridians stepping out, exercising their First Amendment rights, and shouting at the top of their lungs:
“This is what democracy looks like!”

While driving from Englewood to Venice, Florida I waved and sounded my horn to support hundreds of No Kings Day American patriots. Hard to believe there are voting idiots among us who actually believe Trump is capable of leading this great country.
