From the depths of my elder wise woman’s heart and brain…GRRRRRRRRRRR….I am so fcking done with all this corruption playing out right in our faces as if we’re supposed to say “Wow! Look how much we’re winning! More, please!” Nope, no more from any of this despicable crew…local, state and federal. You’ve been exposed for who you are, who you’ve been all along, and we’re finally WOKE enough now to say “NO MORE!”

You use the 'WOKE' term as it was used in the 1960s. Then, it meant that a person was awake to government corruption and capitalist exploitation. Members of the Black Panther Party would introduce someone as, "He's OK. He's woke. . I don't know how 'woke' became effete and clownish.

That’s how I meant the word to be interpreted, not the current perverted MAGA misuse. Glad you recognized this.

Okay, now that the dastardardly little deed has been done, that is, the tearing down of the East Wing of the WH, why not make it a safe place for the president to conduct his personal business?

Have you thought about how much it costs us taxplayers to make it safe for the president to venture outside the safe confines of the WH?

First things first. The president does and should do a good deal of entertaining of foreign dignitaries. Pomp and ceremony reign supreme. He is expected to put on a show that dazzles. There was room in the East Wing previously for moderate extraganzas, perhaps 200 or so attendees, but nowhere near enough space for a full-fledged ball. And why shouldn't the prresident of the greatest country in the world have the capability to entertain on a grand occasion?

Oh, sure, there are many other places in the D.C area that could be used instead. America, of course, is a gun cullture, and that these other sites must be made safe for the president to use. Our second Amendment rights, you know.

So, vetting of the proposed site must begin weeks in advance. If an active hotel ballroom is to be used, everyone who will be staying at the hotel must be checked out regardless of whether or not they will be invited guests at the festivities. No wedding crashers allowed. A thousand-room hotel with maybe 1500 guests and possibly 2,000 employees must be checked out. And still, depending on whether you are a conspiracy theorist or not, a single individual can find a back stairway and streak into the event and even get off a few shots in the president's direction.

Had the White House Corresponents event been held at the WH, the vetting would have been confined to just the invited guests, a much more mundane undertaking. The WH, or at least I should hope so, is already a secure building and its guardian, by all accounts, at least, are very capable at keeeping wedding crashers out.

Wouldn't it have simplified matters if we had just had a large ballroom at the WH and held the White House Correspondents festivities there? Now, don't be so naive as to think the WH correspondents would be getting a free lunch. You can rest assured the Trump family knows how to bill guests who would utilize facilities they either own or control. Just ask the Secret Service agents who secure rooms at Mar Lago. There ain't no free lunch.

A condition for running for president should be you stay on the WH enclave during your term. You are the mountain and Mohammed comes to you. Think of it as if you were doing time at the luxurious facility Epstein's girlfriend is doing time at.

Just a thought.

Disgraceful, disgusting, pathetic and reprehensible. The sooner that this guy is out in jail where he belongs the better.

The amount of disrespect and dishonesty is astounding and I think it’s all a magician’s trick to keep us from seeing what is really happening!! The USA (under the influence of money and greed)has partnered with the people committing genocide daily and murdering and outspoken critics,,,

Ballroom sounds like a place for old people to waltz and drink. Like the old Melody Mill in North Riverside, Illinois. If you were in your car out front it looked like they were ice skating together because you couldn’t see their feet.

Hey! This must be the Art Of The Deal everyone has been talking about 🤔🧐

I wish I could share your optimism about a fruitful end to the conflict with Iran, "All that was required of Iran was to exercise a little patience and, predictably, TACO Trump folded, and now Ayatollah Khamenei gets oil barrels’ full of cash, sanctions removed, and he can keep stockpiling uranium." The Iranians know and quite a few commentators and pundits know that the American government cannot be trusted to keep even a tiny bit of its word (remember the JCPOA and the attack killing Iranian negotiators). The parallel is the Minsk Accords which the West used to arm Ukraine and rebuild its army to attack Russia. So, right now the bombs have stopped falling (except in Lebanon) and ships are moving through the Straits of Hormuz, alleviating the global energy shock. That is a good thing. We can hope that this is the new status quo (except for Israeli bombs).

So glad to be living in Mexico in my “Golden years”! ( I grew up in Florida, 50’s and 60’s.)

Friendly, warm, and mostly unbiased people surround us, treating elders with respect and kindness, while the US government, indiscriminately, treats non-white residents and citizens, INCLUDING CHILDREN AND BABIES, like CRIMINALS!

This should not be in America!

We are not angry enough!!

Congress has not done its job and put a stop to our criminal president!!!

NO MORE WARS!
