Trump flies off the handle as he flies to China--what could go wrong?
News for Floridians and all Americans who care about the future of our country
“I don’t think about Americans’ financial situation.”
— Donald Trump
By J.C. Bruce
As President Donald Trump was about to board Air Force One for a series of meetings in China, he was asked if the economic hardships his war in Iran is causing Americans weighs on his mind.
Nope.
“The only thing that matters when I’m talking about Iran — they can’t have a nuclear weapon,” he said. “I don’t think about Americans’ financial situation.”
He should have.
Other presidents before him did. And they concluded that the inevitable closing of the Strait of Hormuz would lead to global economic catastrophe. So, instead of dropping bombs, they wrote treaties designed to curb Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
Trump tore them up during his first term. And here we are.
The bottom is falling out of the economy. Inflation spiked to 3.8 percent in April. The average price of gasoline is now $4.50 a gallon. Americans’ debt is mounting (and so is the national debt).
And, according to the latest polling by CNN, fully 70 percent of Americans disapprove to how Trump is managing (or, rather, mismanaging) the economy, with 77 percent of poll respondents, including a majority of Republicans, saying Trump’s actions have driven up the cost of living in their own communities.
Shouldn’t that be a concern when negotiating with Iran?
“Not even a little bit,” he replied.
That may be a good negotiating position to take. But it begs a bigger question:
Why are we even in the middle of negotiations in the first place if, as Trump assured the nation earlier, Iran’s nuclear stockpile had been “obliterated.”
Some people are saying the president has lost his marbles.
Among those saying that are the historian and current events chronicler Heather Cox Richardson, who led off her daily report today with these words:
“The biggest story in the country, today and always, is that the president of the United States is mentally unwell.”
She then went on to detail how Trump spent his flight to China posting 55 times on social media in a deranged series of rants, including, but not limited to:
Wondering why his own acting attorney general,Todd Blanche, hasn’t indicted former President Braack Obama.
Accusing Obama of treason.
Repeating the Big Lie that the 2020 election was stolen.
Attacking the New York Times for its stories pointing out Trump’s no-bid contract to paint the bottom of the reflecting pool in front of the Lincoln Memorial, including posting an AI-generated meme showing Obalma and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi swimming in the pool’s dirty water under the heading: Dumacrats Love Sewage.”
Accusing the news media of “virtual TREASON” for its coverage of the Iran war.
And posting a map of Venezuela with a U.S. flag with a caption that read: “51st State.”
And now he’s playing second banana with China’s President Xi Jinping, where trade deals, the future of Taiwan, and the Iran war will be on the table for discussion.
What could go wrong?

Not at all surprised that he doesn't care about the American people. He always has to be the bigger idiot—I mean, man. Obama had an agreement with Iran, but Trump couldn't leave that alone. He certainly has improved the situation, hasn't he? I almost choked on my Fruit Loops when he said Iran needed a regime change! So do we! We can't keep spending money that we don't have. Trump is bankrupting America. Is there anyone in the federal government with common sense? I think they are letting him do this until the billionaires decide that it's time for the other prize, Vance, to take over. Biden and his ego really screwed over America. It seems clear to me that women should be in charge!
