I have to say that the US's fiscal condition is much worse than stated. Way back towards the end of the 19th century, a prominent American economist (as told by Michael Hudson) determined that all income was earned income and there was no such thing as unearned income. That huge theoretical error entered mainstream economics because it privileged the owning class who derived much income from rent, dividends, and bank interest. Perhaps a tiny bit of these kinds of earnings can be considered as 'earned', such as a landlord fixing a tenant's roof, but the vast majority are "making money in your sleep". [JS Mill]
Michael Hudson calculates that as much of 30% of US GDP is composed of unearned income. In a factory, these kind of earnings would be negative costs of production, expenses, not positive additions to the balance sheet. So, if the US has a GDP of $32 trillion, about $10 trillion is empty of what we can consider 'good'.
Those are the people that project 2025 hopes and wants to die. So they stop collecting social security and they can keep the money for themselves. But they're all too dumb to see the picture. But those rich retirees don't give a shit about nobody else just themselves and they'll kiss Trump's ass. So they can say that
