We tried this once before and kids were going to school in the dark which was unsafe. Several accidents were reported at the time involving kids being hit by cars while they walked to school or their bus stops.
Bring on the popcorn for the Blanche hearings. R's will likely just kiss his ass. But here's hoping the Dems give that pompous ass hell and vote him down.
Terrible idea. Perhaps for the first time, I agree with Tom Cotton. Do we want it not getting light until 9 AM in the winter? Kids going to school in pitch black darkness? There is nothing scientific to support this. Permanent standard time, maybe. But not permanent DST.
Any chance we could agree on splitting the hour? Neither Daylight Savings Time nor Standard Time. This fall, instead of "falling back" one hour, fall back a half hour and freeze it there. Mornings wouldn't be so dark in winter as DST would make them. Likewise, summer evenings would only lose a half hour of light. AND we'd never have to reset our biological clocks again.
PS: According to researchers, teens would benefit from starting school later in the day, regardless of DST or Standard Time or anything in between.
Just a question for J.C. Whay is DeSantis pushing the Property Tax Bill? After he tried to kill me by lifting all the Covid restrictions, why is he suddenly doing me a favor? What's in it for him? Thanks.
My sense is that Daylight Savings Time is symptomatic of a deep divide between individuality and nature. Changing the clocks cannot affect reality, and it has been said that Ben Franklin proposed it as a joke. Thus, I don't change my clocks, although the Internet smothers me with DST. I like to follow the ancient Vinaya monastic rule of eating the main meal (sometimes the only meal) right before high noon. Because I live in Apalachicola, on the edge of Eastern Time Zone, with DST lunchtime is about 1:40pm. This DST just too silly to put up with!
In the not-so-long-ago, every community had a sun dial to program a town clock. 12:00 pm was High Noon exactly. With our ubiquitous computers, we could operate on astronomical time that was coordinated with geological location. Thus, we would be in sync with the natural world, and Vinaaya monks could eat on time! To keep the trains running 'on time', we could use an international standard, like Greenwich Mean Time. People could 'go to work' at an agreed upon time, and the same for stores, banks, etc.
Personally, I don't care which time is made permanent, I just want a permanent time. I hate having to change the clocks. I'd prefer to see the light shifting, I like being made aware of what time of year it is. I like following the light patterns.
Why all the fuss over daylight savings time? Why doesn’t Dear Leader simply decree that the sun will always rise and set at the same time year round? Isn’t he God? He seems to think he is.
I read every morning and feel so much more informed about everything going on in our free state of Florida. Some days I still want to move to Mars but most days I feel hopeful that our future is redeemable.

Right, Donna. Was tried in the 70's and quickly abandoned.
Right. I remember watching the kids line up for the bus in the cold morning while snow was falling. We carpenters went to work when we pleased.
grrrrrrrrr.......
If they are going to make ANYTHING PERMANENT, it should be Mother Nature's time!
Since when do they get to decide how we live our lives?????
With no input.. no vote.. for We, the People.
I am pissed.

In any event, No More Changing Clocks!

Would the Todd Blanche hearings be affected by Lindsey Graham's passing, seeing that LG was on the Judiciary committee?
