I just noticed that Republicans are no longer calling global warming a hoax. The new hoax is that liberals are causing high gas prices because they are mad that Republicans control the govermment. Next, the liberals will be responsible for selling off our oil reserves to subsidize gas prices before the midterms!
"Hispanic voters" in Texas are not the same as Hispanic voters in Florida. Due to the Mexican American war, vast numbers of Spanish-speaking people suddenly found themselves residents of the USA (the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo assured them respect for language and culture). Florida was a purchase and had a relatively small Spanish population. However, due to popular revolutions in Latin America, a lot of rich comprador elites came to dwell comfortably in Florida, mostly in Miami. These Hispanics have allegiance to the Anglos, whom they regard as patrons while in most of the Southwest, Hispanics still see at least some Anglos as invaders.
