This fucking 140 website has a donate ad that is very difficult to click off of to read the information on the website. I am a Florida resident, I am a member of the UA, and it is infuriating that we have so many republicans with no democratic opponent. I am sick to death of living under the gop, it’s like we’re being occupied by them, they change the rules to maintain power, and we need to overthrow them.
We opponents of this crap have to be that much MORE determined to vote. To do that, the new requirements and how to comply have to be well publicized, so we lose as few voters as possible. I believe it is possible to use this as motivation for our side, creating a backlash that will make them wish they had not passed it. Remember in November and beyond!
178 voters or whatever it was might have been illegal in the last election,,,,??? And they could lose 31 000 who ARE eligible to vote. Sounds like cutting off the nose to spite the face.
Election integrity is a good thing, but this is a wrong-headed move. The article does not say if the bill passed with the two amendments. The first addresses the exclusion of some blacks. The second would disqualify from office any American with additional national citizenship. That's not just about brown people who speak Spanish.
Am I wrong in all my research that a REAL ID License does NOT require US Citizenship, but does require Legal Status, thus the very first thing in the list will have some people beliving they are good, but without a passport or their birth certificate (which mine is now 78 years old, has no picture of me and for the life of me I don't see how that is really a good test) are going to be sent back home from the voting booth.
No surprise here. Republicans can't win without cheating, and this bill, along with the misnamed SAVE Act, will disenfranchise voters, including Republicans. I guess they are also disenfranchising students without a REAL ID. That's the only way they can win.
