“As Florida Attorney General, it was Moody and her office that approved the diversion of $10 million of taxpayer money to the Hope Florida Foundation. And the Attorney General did so without placing any of the safeguards or guardrails her office would typically require to make sure the money was properly spent.”

“Since being appointed to fill the Senate seat vacated by Secretary of State Marco Rubio in 2025, Moody has consistently supported restrictive voting legislation based on false claims that illegal voting by noncitizens is widespread in U.S. elections.

Measures Moody has supported include Trump’s SAVE America Act, which she co-sponsored when it was introduced in the Senate earlier this year. If passed, it would disenfranchise millions of eligible voters by requiring them to show documents like a passport or birth certificate to register to vote.”

As soon as they say Moody lacks obvious baggage... She's a trump rubber stamp and she helped Ron Desantis steal $10 million from taxpayers to fight citizen-led onstitutional amendments for reproductive rights and recreational marijuana. That's some pretty heavy baggage!

I think Florida should have open primaries. I didn't vote for Nixon because I saw an article about her and she was talking about Jacksonville when she should be talking about all of Florida. Also, I didn't think she would be the best candidate to challenge Moody. We won't know until the general election, and I'm fine with being proved wrong.

FL won't forward mail-in ballots, so many of us who are traveling in the summer cannot vote in the August primary. But we'll be there in November -- and progressives will support candidates who stand in solidarity with everyday citizens.

The utter incompetence of the Florida Democratic Party strikes again. How many doors did the Vindman campaign knock on? I'd wager relatively few. The FDP is in the thrall of the consultant class and consultants hate organizing, no commissions. Consultants have no skin in the game, it's all about the pay day. Give Nixon her due, and work your ass off to elect her. Florida Dems keep falling into the same trap of electability. David Jolly is Charlie Christie 2.0. The thoroughly incompetent and corrupt Byron Donalds will be elected by default.

I, too, was more focused on voting for the candidate who had the best chance of beating Moody in November. The more centrist Democrat Vindman would have had greater appeal to voters who were not comfortable with a sudden shift from MAGA loyalist to left wing progressive. A strategic lean toward the center felt more obtainable. I never lost sight of the fact that Florida is a red state. My hopes for a democratic senate win in November have been dashed.

There was nothing exciting about Vindman to encourage people to turn out and vote. People who support MAGA loyalists weren't going to vote for him, they hate him for testifying in Trump's first impeachment. I think our chances of winning are much better now than they were with Vindman, what reason did someone have to vote for him instead of Moody. Anti-Trump?, if they are anti-Trump then they'll vote for Angie.

This is interesting and well reported regarding the horse race. Please follow up by analyzing proposed policies, especially Nixon‘s. The things Nixon says she would strive to do - would those things be good for Florida, for USA, for the world? That’s more important, and more useful for your readers.

Thanks!
