I like voting for a woman, black, person of color, or gay, because I support diversity even as a white male. Ultimately I’m looking for who is best for our community, state, and country. Hopefully a majority of black voters will do the same.

SOME ADVICE FOR NON-POLITICIANS: In the interest of sanity, fiscal responsibility, and avoiding election burnout, I adhere to a strict policy of supporting only candidates running in elections in my district. If someone will appear on my ballot, I pay close attention to who they are and what they advocate, and generally contribute to the campaigns of those I want to see win. For example, I like David Jolly, so I send his campaign money regularly. On the other hand, although I similarly like Bernie Sanders and the policies he advocates, he ain't a-gonna be on my ballot, so I ignore his pleas for donations.

Like Douglas Adams' character Wonko the Sane (So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish, 1984), I treat my living space as the outside of an insane asylum. I don't, for example, allow commercials containing graphic depictions of animal cruelty or child abuse to be displayed on my TV. They're too icky! The rest of the world is nutso, and I confine it to the insane asylum OUTSIDE my property line.

We need politicians and government officials to keep order in society, just as we need trash collectors to get rid the detritus of our daily living. But we don't have to break their rice bowls by trying to do their jobs for them. We non-politicians need to understand our options when deciding who to elect in our districts. However, we should avoid driving ourselves into the outer asylum by obsessing over what we can't control. You can pay it passing attention if you want to, but don't make yourself crazy by obsessing over it!

WOKE UP, AMERICA!

I AM ANTIFA!
